Important Information

Read this and take note:

1. Recipe video tutorials about Unit 2:
a) Ana, Bea and Paula del Rio: excellent video
b) Juanjo, Jorge and company: good video. The language is good but the pronunciation is not correct. There are only two students doing the Project. Who’s the camera man?
c) Ana Calle and company: you need to make the video again.
d) Santi and company: you need to make the video again IN ENGLISH!!!! Your video was not good!
e) The rest of the videos: you hand it in on Monday the latest or you don’t get any marks for it.
f) Everyone: You need to send me the text of the video

2. Comics:
a) The comics you are doing are good, but there is something wrong. For example, sentences are not in the right order. Send me the texts as well as the video of the comic, please. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand what they say. Also, try to record your OWN voice!!!
Remember you have until the 18th or 19th of December!!

3. International Street Food Recipes and Video Tutorials
a) We will represent an International Street Food Fair in class on Thursday, the 22nd of December. You should cook one day before, so we can eat the food at school.

b) Please, record it as well as you will get extra points. Also, you must tell me if you are going to do the work BEFORE the 18th of December!!!!!
4. Oral Exams:
a) Remember, they start on Monday, the 5th of December during break time. It’s individual and it’s in alphabetical order. If you want to prepare something look at the dialogue of the market.
b) Market role play: on Thursday or Friday next week.

Other vocabulary
You can count uncountable nouns if you use containers:
You can put something into a container to count it, but the thing you're counting doesn't take the plural form. The container takes the plural form:-
bag A bag of money.
barrel Two barrels of beer.
bottle Three bottles of wine.
bowl Four bowls of sugar.
box Five boxes of cereal.
bucket Six buckets of water.
can Seven cans of Coke.
carton Eight cartons of milk.
cup Nine cups of coffee.
glass Ten glasses of water.
jar Eleven jars of honey.
packet A dozen packets of butter.
a saucepan Thirteen pans of rice.
tank Fifteen tanks of petrol.
tin Sixteen tins of custard.
tub Seventeen tubs of margarine.
tube Eighteen tubes of toothpaste.



You can measure something to count it, but it still doesn't take the plural form. The measurement takes the plural form:- For example:-
litre 1 and a half litres of milk.
pint Two pints of beer.
pound / ounce / kilo etc... Two pounds / ounces / kilos of butter.



You can measure uncountable nouns in other ways, using shapes or portions. Again the measurement takes the plural form.
ball Ten balls of wool.
bar Three bars of soap.
pinch Two pinches of salt.
slice Five slices of cake.
spoon Fourteen spoonfuls of sugar.
square Ten squares of chocolate.

Bunch of grapes/cherries
Bottle of water/coke/wine
Pint of beer

Dialogue to sell or buy at a Street Market

Salesperson: Can I help you, sir/madame?
Customer: Yes, I’d like two pounds of tomatoes, please.
Salesperson: Would you like them large or small,or cherries sir/madame?
Customer: Cherries, please. I’d like to make a salad. I have visitors today.
Salesperson: Here/There you are.
Customer: Thank you sir/madame.
Salesperson: Anything else?
Customer: Yes, please. Can I have four heads of garlic, please and three onions, please?
Salesperson: Sure. Right away! Anything else?
Customer: Last but not least, two packets of salt.
Salesperson: Ok. There you go.
Customer: So, how much is that all together?
Salesperson: It’s £20.50.
Customer: Sorry, how much?
Salesperson: £20.50
Customer: That’s a lot/too much. I’m going to another stand!
Salesperson: I’m sorry, but those are my prices. Bye bye.

Groups and functions

Team 1 is composed by Carlos, Antonio Manuel, Juan José, Enrique and José Manuel. These students are going to start with the task of finding ....VOCABULARY ABOUT THE UNIT

Team 2's members are the following: Carmen, Paula García, Ana Calle, Elena González and Benjamin. These students are going to start with the task of finding ....MUSIC ABOUT THE UNIT

Team 3 include students such as Elena García, Claudia, Lola, Casandra and Lourdes.
These students are going to start with the task of finding ....COMMUNICATIVE SITUATIONS ABOUT THE UNIT. Remember you have to design comics to represent the situations!!


Group 4 are Ana Mª, Bea, Paula del Rio, Andrea and María Vega.

Gonzalo, Santi, Juanma, Luis and Alfredo group together to form team 5. These students are going to start with the task of finding ....GRAMMAR ABOUT THE UNIT

IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember you must get at least 15 comments per unit per function. We will rotate every two units. See that there are numbers on the functions now, so now you know what's your next function!!!

Student – Teacher Contract

Rules for the students

1. Students must respect the teacher and partners in class.
2. Students must speak in English in class.
3. Students must put your hand up before you speak.
4. Students should help their partners/classmates.
5. Students shouldn’t talk in Spanish in class.
6. Students must do the homework everyday.
7. Students should listen to the teacher.
8. Students should respect school material and equipment.

Rules for the teacher

1. The teacher should prepare activities for all types of students.
2. The teacher should treat everyone equal.
3. The teacher should answer the students’ questions.
4. The teacher should design fun lessons.

Communication system: Rules

1. You shouldn’t speak Spanish in class unless it is necessary (see rule number 2)
2. You may speak Spanish if you have a problem and you can’t describe it in English. You have to raise your hand and ask permission to speak Spanish: “Can I speak Spanish, please?”
3. You shouldn’t speak Spanish too much because it will not benefit you. If you do, the teacher will impose some kind of punishment.
